junior high school

Mathematics at the junior high school level is a general exposure in different areas, such as algebra, geometry, and statistics. Textbooks at this level focus on an overview to all subjects that students can take at the senior high school level. Students are typically exposed to algebraic concepts such as solving one and two step equations, geometric concepts such as surface area and perimeters of irregular polygons, and statistics concepts such as basic probability. Students at the 8th grade level get exposure to more in-depth concepts that they learned at the 7th grade level. In many schools in Pennsylvania, students who are honors or advanced can take Algebra 1. These resources can be found under the Algebra 1 tab.
